Copywriter - Part Time (Australian based role)

Position Overview

We don’t have to tell you: copy is important. I mean, if you’re reading this, you’re kinda obsessed with how powerful great copy is. You know it’s responsible for compelling people into action, communicating value, inspiring emotion, driving sales, and so much more.

If you LOVE (yep, all caps) writing copy with personality that does all of the above without ever sounding pushy or manipulative and you’ve got a proven track record and plenty of experience writing for online businesses in the digital course arena, keep reading! 

The quality of our copy is directly tied to our ability to get results from our marketing endeavours. This position’s primary focus is to create high-converting copy assets ranging from ads and emails to sales and landing pages and everything in between. 

Your #1 job will be to hit deadlines and produce quality copy that doesn’t just sound pretty but that actually compels people to take action. 

Our ideal copywriter is experienced and well-versed in industry best practices and doesn’t need much hand holding to create stellar copy collateral (though you DO love working with a savvy team and feedback is your friend). To say you’re committed to the craft would be an understatement.

You’re creative, empathic, hard-working, well organized, and dedicated to excellence. You live and breathe digital marketing and most likely have a swipe file that goes for miles. You don’t base your copy on what simply sounds good, you base it off a deep understanding of a brand’s ideal audience and customers alongside conversion and persuasion principles. 

Most importantly, you’re a bit of a “copy chameleon” — meaning you’ll have no problem familiarizing yourself with the Shine and Succeed brand voice and capturing Salome’s style, personality, tone, cadence, and vision in everything you write AND you can apply your understanding of brand voice to our client’s ad copy too.

This is a remote, part-time position that reports directly to our Chief Executive Officer, while also working closely with the marketing team, the Ads and Account Managers, and other key members of the team. 

This position involves working Monday – Friday and you’ll be expected to be available during office hours. This position is a work from home position that comes with a degree of flexibility but requires you to be extremely reliable.

There are seasons (during launches or when we have a large influx of new clients) when you will be expected to work until the job is done. Our entire team pulls together during these times to successfully complete the launches of our online training programs and coaching programs. This can be very rewarding and challenging work. 

Although we permit “side gigs” / work outside this role, it must not compete or overlap with the work we do, or interfere with your role and responsibilities within the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Copywriter will be responsible for ongoing copy creation and optimization for both our client’s ad copy and the Shine and Succeed brand. The copywriter will be responsible for creating assets for paid and free offers including creating all the necessary copy assets for our social media, list building and advertising as well as our courses, memberships, and product launches both live and evergreen. 

Your wheelhouse will also include content repurposing, research, idea generation, copyediting, funnel optimization, and staying on top of all project deadlines. 

You’ll be responsible for… 

  • Ideation and development: Working with the Marketing Team to bring attention grabbing ideas to the table, help develop hooks, concepts, frameworks, and strategies for our launches, new products, and other important marketing initiatives. We want you to understand and be a part of developing the bigger ‘WHY’ behind everything you write or optimize. 
  • Creating new copy assets + optimizing existing copy: Working within brand voice to create or optimize the copy for our ads, landing pages, thank you pages, sales pages, sales sequences, welcome sequences, webinars, and more.
  • Research: Ongoing audience research such as creating and reviewing surveys, compiling voice of customer data from our Facebook groups, as well as looking at what our competitors are doing to ensure we always stand out and our copy hits the mark, meets our ideal customers where they’re at, and gives them a sense that we understand them and are here to help. 
  • Producing high-quality work that’s as close to perfect as possible — that means paying attention to the little things; impeccable spelling and grammar, and staying on brand. 
  • Staying on top of the latest digital marketing trends and what’s working now in the world of copywriting. 
  • Participating in weekly meetings with our Marketing Team. 
  • Working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, the Integrator, and the Ads Account Manager to ensure everything is on track and big and small projects are being tackled within the estimated timeline. 
  • Always knowing what’s going on and being flexible and resourceful enough to create a new game plan when something doesn’t go as planned. 
  • Prioritizing projects based on established delivery dates and helping the Marketing Project Manager to fully execute on all assignments. 
  • Managing communication with marketing, customer and community experience, and other departments as it relates to assigned projects.

 

Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate possesses the following strengths and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, or business is preferred but we care less about your qualification and more about your proven track record.
  • 3-5 years of sales focused copywriting for online brands, preferably in a comparable industry. 
  • Experience and proficiency writing high-converting sales pages, emails, and video scripts (seriously, you’ve got this stuff down to a science) 
  • You’re a great writer with a knack for simplifying big ideas, inspiring people into action, telling stories, coming up with new angles that support the overall marketing strategy and creating engaging copy that speaks to the specific struggles and desires of any audience. 
  • You understand the importance of keeping a consistent brand voice and always prioritize clear over clever — that said, you know how to write engaging personality driven copy that sounds like it’s coming from a bestie, not a business.  
  • Absolute mastery around all things email marketing (you could write irresistible subject lines in your sleep) and sales funnels. 
  • A strong understanding of the importance of high-quality copy that stands out in the digital marketing stratosphere and intimate knowledge of all the steps involved in the creation process.
  • You’re able to identify what’s killing conversions from a mile away and transform B+ copy into A+ with ease. 
  • Motivation comes easily to you, you’re a self-starter but you also love collaboration and working with a talented team. 
  • Juggling multiple projects and to-do’s simultaneously while still staying organized is no problem for you — you work well under pressure, meet deadlines and keep promises.
  • The ability to organize, motivate, and work with different personality types virtually to accomplish a specific goal. 
  • Familiarity with list building, digital course creation, online launching, and self-development models already in the marketplace. 
  • You’re tech savvy and always willing to learn. Familiarity with Slack, Google Drive, Zoom, Monday, and Apple devices is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal) — you love working with a team and your communication style is clear, kind, and concise.

Firstly, we help established online course creators scale their online business to create more profits and more freedom as their Facebook and Instagram advertising partners in the agency. We also teach and coach new online course creators on the methods that are working now to find their best audiences and make their first sales to those audiences using Facebook and Instagram ads.
